Chief Executive Officer
Based in Northern Virginia, Ken brings 30 years of executive leadership experience to Element Critical, including significant successes rapidly developing and scaling highly respected companies.
Prior to Element Critical, Ken founded and served as CEO at ByteGrid, a national platform of Tier 3+ data centers in the U.S. During his tenure at ByteGrid, he led the management team in acquiring five datacenters with over 800,000 SF of mission-critical space and 500 customers. Ken also led the successful strategic acquisitions of Annapolis-based Sidus BioData (a leading provider of compliant hosting solutions for FDA and HIPAA-HITECH regulated companies), and NetRiver, (a Seattle-based managed services provider) to diversify the ByteGrid portfolio and business.
Before Ken joined ByteGrid, he was the COO of The Mills Corporation, a NYSE-listed, publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust that acquired, developed, leased and operated large-scale commercial real estate properties with total assets valued at nearly $8 billion.
Prior to joining the Mills Corporation, Ken also held various leadership positions with Price Waterhouse and Kenneth Leventhal.
Chief Revenue Officer
Based in Northern New Jersey, Wayne brings 25 years of diverse experience in executive sales leadership, global strategic alliances, technical operations, business development, channel optimization and go-to-market execution across data center, telecommunications, enterprise, logistics & manufacturing, and research & development environments.
Prior to joining Element Critical, Wayne served as the Chief Sales Officer for Cologix, leading all aspects of customer acquisition and management. Previously he held positions of Head of Strategic Alliances at Ciena Corporation where he lead global partnership strategy, technology solutions design and go-to-market distribution, VP of Strategic Sales at Siemens Enterprise Communications (now Unify), progressive leadership roles culminating as VP of Channel Sales & Alliances at Level 3 Communications (now CenturyLink), and various management positions at Qwest Communications (also now CenturyLink), Lucent Technologies (now Alcatel-Lucent), AT&T Bell Laboratories, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Wayne holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Physics from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and achieved a graduate degree in Interdisciplinary Telecommunications from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Vice President of Product Development
Mike comes to Element Critical with more than 20 years of experience in developing and supporting Internet products and services, the last 15 of which were focused on colocation and data center services.
Prior to joining Element Critical, Mike served for 10 years as Vice President of Data Center Services with Internap Corporation. In this role, he oversaw the global portfolio of data centers in the US, Europe and Asia, including build outs of more than 350K square feet of new data center facilities, which coupled with new global services provider partnerships, enabled the business to grow to more than 125 megawatts and 1 million square feet of capacity under management. During his time at Internap, Mike also managed business development, acquisitions, and data center operations.
Prior to joining Internap, Mike spent several years with BellSouth Corporation (now AT&T), supporting their e-Data Center, hosting and Internet service lines of business.
He holds degrees from Nova Southeastern University, North Carolina State University and is licensed to practice law in the state of Georgia.
Vice President of Channels and Alliances
Jean-Marc joins Element Critical with 22+ years of experience in technology sales and channel management. Prior to joining Element Critical, Jean-Marc was Director of Channel Sales, Eastern U.S. for QTS Data Centers. During his eight-year tenure, he was instrumental in building the company’s channel programs, including development of training and support resources, compensation and support models, contracts, launch of a web-based partner portal integrated into the company’s CRM and accounting systems, as well as the development and implementation of partner performance measurement, retention and incentive plans.
Prior to QTS, Jean-Marc spent three years at Internap where he oversaw channel development and indirect sales. In addition, Porson has previously held senior channel and alliance positions with In-Store Broadcasting Network, Software AG, Newton Park, and MindSpring Enterprises.
He studied Business and Marketing at Georgia State University and lives with his family in Atlanta, Ga.
Joey joins Element Critical with 20 years of real estate experience, focused in the areas of finance, accounting, acquisition due diligence, capital markets, and asset management. He brings a unique blend of corporate finance expertise and early-stage venture experience to his role at Element Critical.
Joey’s previous roles include, Divisional Controller for Lennar Homes, Corporate Controller for one of Colony Capital’s largest funds, Chief Financial Officer for Express Homebuyers USA, and Vice President of Finance for JPI, one of the nation’s largest and most successful private multi-family real estate firms.
Joey began his career with Ernst & Young LLP, where he served as a manager in the real estate assurance and advisory practice. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a degree in real estate finance from the University of Southern California.
Our first facility was a carrier neutral, network dense, and cross connect friendly Tier III data and compute center with over 8 MW of IT load in the heart of Silicon Valley (SV1). In early 2017, we expanded nationally by acquiring our 200,000 square foot data center in Northern Virginia (VA1). We’ve continued to grow our national platform by purchasing two facilities in Chicago (CH1 & CH2) in December 2018.
Element Critical sets up shop in Silicon Valley and re-launches a Yahoo and Level 3 data center. Redundancy of N+1 and 4 Megawatts of critical IT load.
Ken Parent assumes the position of Chief Executive Officer. He is the former CEO and a founder of ByteGrid. Ken held the positions of CFO and COO of The Mills Corporation, a publicly traded real estate investment trust that was acquired by Simon Property Group in 2007.
Safanad, a global principal investment firm, completes its initial investment to support growth and partners with existing shareholder San Francisco based investment firm, Industry Capital, a private equity firm investing in real assets globally.
Tysons Technology Center in Vienna, Virginia acquired. The 280,000-square foot facility is located just off the Washington DC beltway and consists of a 200,000-square foot Tier 3 data center and an 80,000-square foot office building on a 14.5-acre campus.
After a successful launch Element Critical engages with data center infrastructure leaders in Silicon Valley and soon signs its first customer at the Kifer Road facility in Silicon Valley.
In an effort to accommodate industry best practices for security and customer work/meeting space, in July 2017 Element Critical completed the VA1 remodel and began work on the SV1 remodel.
CentralColo relaunches as Element Critical, a new kind of data center that’s focused on caring as much about the people it serves as the servers it houses.
