DATA CENTER FACILITY MANAGER – SUNNYVALE

OVERVIEW 

Element Critical is seeking an experienced Data Center Facilities Manager to join our team in our data center located in Sunnyvale, California.

This position plays a critical role in the team by providing local leadership overseeing all site and daily operational activities. The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for the Leadership, Mentoring, and Management of the onsite teams that maintain the Mechanical, HVAC, Building electrical, Controls, and Automation systems along with vendor management for facilities support. The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for Maintenance, Repair, and Operation (MRO) standards and metrics, reporting, incident response, and management processes, staff performance and improvement plans, budget accountability, site energy consumption, and utility bill optimization. The Data Center Facility Manager reports to the Regional Director of Data Center Operations and will be available on call.

LOCATION AND REPORTING
The ideal candidate will be based in Sunnyvale, California

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • • Provide on-site support for the provision and maintenance of Critical Environment services
    • Responsible for the on-site management of shift technicians, sub-contractors, and vendors
    • Oversee operation and management of routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, etc
    • Data Center capacity planning and reporting
    • May assist in the design and build-out of new facilities
    • Work with other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency
    • Deliver quality service and ensure all customer demands are met
    • Responsible for asset and inventory management
    • Respond to Facility Related Emergency call outs – escalation point for Data Center facilities-related issues / failures
    • Manage unforeseen circumstances that occur and provide relevant feedback to Client / EC management where necessary
    • Mentor & motivate the Critical Environment team, providing them with regular feedback to ensure they continually improve
    • Ensure all customer deployments are installed to applicable internal, manufacture, and industry standards
    • Ensure that all records are updated following any changes made and that documentation is also kept up to date for all applicable processes
    • Recommends staff recruitment, selection, promotion, performance improvement, and termination
    • Prepares and delivers performance reviews for staff
    • Mentors and coaches team members for further development
    • Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company’s values
    • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients
    • Attends client meetings
    • Reviews work orders to ensure that assignments are completed
    • Responsible for facilities inspections and reports
    • Obtains and reviews quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for projects
    • Provides process and procedure training

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into tight spaces
  • Must visually inspect the state of operating systems within and around the data center

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree in the related field is preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or other critical environment
  • 4+ years of Facilities Management Experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and multi-task across projects
  • Computer proficiency with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
